Guest Speaker: Michael E. John
Michael E. John is manager of John Ranch, Inc., a commercial cow-calf growing and retained ownership operation headquartered in Huntsville, Missouri. Since 2000, he has also been director of MFA Health Track Beef Alliance in Columbia, feeder cattle source and process verification program. John is a 1980 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.
John has been a beef industry leader at the national, state and local levels. he is currently the immediate past President of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA)and has served as chairman of the Membership and Association Services Committee and was group chair of Industry and producer Services. he was chairman of the Animal ID commission and was also Vice-Chair of the Mark of Quality Commission.
On the International level, he served on the MEF board of directors and participated in a market expo to Korea and Japan. In addition, John served on NCBA’s cross-border working group with NAFTA partner members. John also attended the recent Five Nations Beef Alliance meeting in Australia.
At the state level, John was president of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and Chairman of the Missouri Beef Industry Council. He has also served as a board member and scholarship chair of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Foundation.
Mike John currently lives on the ranch in Huntsville, Missouri with his wife Dara and youngest son Paden. The older children are twins Hayley, who is a student at Texas A & M, and Hunter who is a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy.
